Ferndown Frisbee Golf

Family Fun!If you see a strange circular object flying through the air in Ferndown, chances are it’s someone playing Frisbee Golf, or more correctly Disc golf.

So what is disc golf?

Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of using a club to hit a ball until it ends up in a hole, players use a plastic flying disc, or Frisbee® which is thrown towards a target, usually a metal basket on a pole.

The object of the game is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws. Players start from a tee and make sequential throws until landing in the metal basket.

As the player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. Trees, shrubs, and other objects located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the disc golfer. When the golf disc lands in the basket, the hole is completed.

The player with the least number of throws is the winner. Disc golf shares the same pleasures and frustrations of traditional golf, whether it's starting with a long drive, or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway or sinking a difficult putt. Although it’s inexpensive, it’s a dynamic and challenging outdoor game that can be enjoyed by everyone.
